RiversEdge West (formerly Tamarisk Coalition) was founded in 1999. RiversEdge West focuses on riparian forest and floodplain health in the American West to address impacts from invasive riparian (riverside) plants such as Russian olive and tamarisk, challenges associated with climate change and habitat fragmentation, and stressors that may result in diminished biodiversity and ecosystem services.

In 2017, the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) established the Western Monarch Working Group (WMWG) to proactively lead a multi-state cooperative effort for conservation of the western monarch population.

The Western Cave Conservancy is dedicated to securing permanent protection for threatened caves in the western United States. The Western Cave Conservancy was incorporated in 2002 by a group of dedicated cave enthusiasts.
