Who We Are We are a collaborative group of individuals, each with a diverse and unique background and skill set, that work together to solve and manage any variety of environmental issues.

The Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System Regional Association (GCOOS-RA) is a 501(c)3 organization responsible for developing a network of business leaders, marine scientists, resource managers, governmental and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholder groups that combine their data to provide timely information about our oceans — similar to the information gathered by the National Weather Service to develop weather forecasts.

A south Texas native, Cantu earned BS and MS degrees in Range and Wildlife Science from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University-Kingsville) and has since accumulated over 30 years of experience managing natural resources.

Wildlife Consultants, Inc. uses experience and professionalism to solve diverse wildlife and habitat management challenges. Company owners and wildlife biologists, Ruben Cantu and Greg Simons, collectively have 60 years of broad experience including extensive field work as well as entrepreneurial business and administrative expertise.

Monarch Health is a citizen science project in which volunteers sample wild monarch butterflies to help track the spread of a protozoan parasite across North America.

The Bee Research Lab conducts research to improve the health of honey bee colonies and help the beekeeping industry maintain an adequate healthy supply of bees for the pollination of crops.

Research Interests Forest and native plant nursery propagation, outplanting, and establishment including biophysical and physiological limitations and adaptations within each system.

We work with private landowners, business & industry, municipalities and government agencies to help these stakeholders understand and benefit from the expanding market for ecological assets, including mitigation and conservation credits, water quality credits and carbon sequestration credits.

The Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) provides scientific expertise to support the conservation and recovery of biological diversity in its natural state through applied research, education, planning, and community service.
