Nathan Brunner of Tampa is all business when it comes to providing controlled burns for landowners. He and his uncle, Leonard Jirak of Hartford, are operators of Fire 4 Hire, an official contractor with the Kansas Forestry Service and the Natural Resources and Conservation Service.

A Prescribed Burn Association is a group of landowners/managers and other interested persons that form a partnership to organize and conduct prescribed burns.

The Kansas Prescribed Fire Council was established in September 2008 to protect private landowner rights and public land manager options to responsibly use prescribed fire as a grassland natural resource management tool.
