Washoe County Reno Extension

Washoe County is a growing area located along the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in western Nevada. The county covers an area of 6,600 square miles in the northwest section of the state bordering California and Oregon and has a population of about 390,000.

Washoe County strategic priorities include improving public safety, security and health; preserving and enhancing residents' quality of life; improving regional collaboration; supporting a healthy economy; improving government efficiency and financial stability; providing excellent public services; and developing the workforce.

Cooperative Extension provides educational programs based on each community's needs and priorities in its program areas, including agriculture; community development; health and nutrition; horticulture; human and family development; and natural resources
