University of Idaho Extension, Idaho County helps area citizens by providing unbiased, locally relevant, research-based education programs.
  • Our office provides programming in
    • 4-H Youth Development
    • Agriculture
    • Health, nutrition and fitness
    • In cooperation with Idaho County, the University of Idaho employs two Extension educators, one 4-H program assistant and one full-time secretary.
    • Agriculture and timber are the two main industries in Idaho County. The western half of the county is where the Camas Prairie is located. This area has rich soils that are ideally suited for the production of cereal crops and forages. Over 80 percent of the land in Idaho County is owned by the federal government or the state. Beef cattle is the county’s number one agricultural commodity in terms of gross revenues generated. This is closely followed by wheat and barley.
