The Thurston Conservation District promotes voluntary stewardship among private landowners in Thurston County. Our services are free to the residents of our County. We are committed to finding available resources and coordinating them in a way that they meet the needs of our local community. The Thurston Conservation District was formed back in 1948 by the residents of the county. Conservation Districts (CDs) are legal subdivisions of state government that administer programs to conserve natural resources. Each District is self-governed by volunteers who establish priorities and set policy. CDs exist in practically every county throughout the United States.
As we move into the coming months and years, we realize that large agricultural land-holding are becoming somewhat a thing of the past in Thurston County. As a result, we are committed to adjusting to the needs of our urban community needs as well as preserving our precious local farmland.
