Sierra Nevada Conservancy

The Sierra Nevada Conservancy is a California state agency established through bi-partisan legislation to initiate, encourage, and support efforts that improve the environmental, economic, and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada region, its communities, and the people of California.  Since its inception in 2004, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy has been faced with the challenge of supporting and enhancing the environmental, economic, and social well-being of a 27-million-acre region that not only attracts 50 million visitors every year, but also contains watersheds that provide water to more than 75% of Californians, 50% of California’s forests, and supports a variety of its wildlife species.
