Save the Illinois River, Inc.

Save the Illinois River, Inc., STIR, is the only private, not-for-profit organization chartered exclusively for the preservation of the Illinois River (Upper and Lower), Flint Creek, Barren Fork Creek, Tenkiller Lake, and their tributaries.

Today, STIR members actively monitor water quality issues such as citizen’s concerns about water pollution. And with work still to be done, STIR closely follows matters before the Oklahoma Legislature, Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission, Greater Tenkiller Area Association, Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, and state and federal agencies.
