Their role is to provide professional planning and technical advice to Wisconsin's woodland owners. DNR foresters:

- educate woodland owners about the value and benefit of forest management
- build relationships with woodland owners and partners
- connect woodland owners to professional service providers who can assist with implementing forest management activities
