Mission
Our mission is to assist the citizens of Richland County to protect and improve the County's natural resources by providing exceptional education, planning and technical assistance

Vision
To improve the quality and quantity of our County's natural resources within the watersheds of Richland County by establishing a working network of diverse conservation partners resulting in the District being known as the County's natural resource agency.

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District is responsible for soil and water integrity within Richland County Ohio. We assist landowners with the following:

  • Agriculture land planning and engineering assistance is provided through a partnership with USDA-NRCS and includes, but is not limited to Grassed Waterways, Windbreaks, Filter Strips, Agriculture Chemical Facilities, Nutrient Management, Grazing Management, Manure Management, Access Roads and Fencing and Drainage and Erosion issues.  
  • Non-agriculture assistance includes planning for: woodland, wetlands, wildlife, recreation land, as well as drainage, erosion and sediment control, and pond management.
  • The District assists non-farm rural landowners on a variety of land use concerns including soil health, drainage and erosion problems, and wetland issues with an emphasis on Backyard Conservation.
  • Forestry: the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and the Ohio Forestry Association
  • The District assists local government with the Storm Water and Sediment Control Regulations and Ohio’s General Storm Water National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
  • Soil Testing
