Monarch Butterfly

Milkweed & Mustard Seed

Milkweed & Mustard Seed is a local project to help increase the presence of native milkweed in northwest Oregon to help Monarch butterfly conservation. NW Oregon is an area where milkweed is historically scarce but is increasing in importance as Monarchs come farther north with climate change. Buy our milkweed plants to start your butterfly garden in early spring or fall. We have low-cost milkweed seedlings ready to plant. Add your favorite native nectar flowers, a sunny location and a water source. Then wait. Be patient!

"Native milkweeds (Asclepias spp.) are essential for monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) caterpillars and support a diversity of pollinators with their abundant nectar. By including milkweeds in gardens, landscaping, wildlife habitat restoration projects, and native revegetation efforts we can provide breeding habitat for monarchs and a valuable nectar source for butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects." — Xerces.org
