Mahnomen Soil and Water Conservation District

Mission
to Protect and Improve Mahnomen County's Natural Resources Through the Implementation of the District's Annual Plan.

The Mahnomen Soil and Water Conservation District was organized by the Veteran's Agricultural Classes and their instructors, local farmers and business men, assisted by the Agricultural Extension Service.  A public hearing was held by the State Soil Conservation Committee on August 18, 1949 and a favorable referendum was held on September 28, 1949.  A certificate of organization was issued by the Secretary of State on October 25, 1949.  Election of Supervisors was held on December 12, 1949.
