Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District

The mission of the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District is to conserve and enhance the wise use of our soil, water and related natural resources.

The Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a subdivision of the state and operates as a department of Madison County Government. It is a public body which exercises public powers. It is governed by five supervisors, each a resident of the county, three elected and two appointed. The district receives its statutory authority from Indiana District Law. (Indiana Code 14-32-5-1)

The Madison County SWCD works with Purdue Extension, the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), other SWCDs, and local groups to provide conservation education, services, and programs.
