Proactive Conservation for Working Lands

Idaho State Office

The BLM manages nearly 12 million acres of public lands in Idaho, representing nearly one-fourth of the state's total land area, for multiple uses. Through balanced management, we sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In fiscal year 2016, the diverse activities authorized on BLM Idaho-managed lands generated $1.1 billion in economic output across the state, supporting 11,000 jobs. In 2018, Idaho's public lands hosted 5.8 million recreation visitors.
