Duval County Extension

The total acreage is approximately 1,200,000 acres. The county seat for Duval is San Diego. Other communities include Benavides, Freer, Concepcion, Rialitos, Ramirez, San Jose and La Rosita. In this part of Texas, agriculture is the number one resource. The area has an abundance of Whitetail deer, blue and bobwhite quail, javelina, hogs and whitewing dove. The extension service is currently working on educational programs for the wildlife and livestock producers and introducing new youth programs for the 4-h and schools.
