Cheahmill Chapter

Founded in September 1998, our chapter is named "Cheahmill" from the Kalapuyan people who inhabited the region which came to be called Yamhill. The Yamhill watershed is the geographic region we focus on, which includes Willamette Valley species as well as Coast Range species.

Monthly programs run September through May at the Carnegie Building, McMinnville Public Library, 225 NW Adams, McMinnville. Field trips are held in spring and summer.

Projects

  • Establishment of a Native Plant Garden at the McMinnville Public Library
  • Collaboration with Yamhill County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) on their annual native tree and shrub sale in February
  • Partnering with Yamhill County Parks & Recreation and Yamhill Basin Council to restore native riparian vegetation communities in county parks
  • Co-sponsorship with Linfield College of special programs on natural history
