Chuck Wehland advances the interests of clients in the energy industry by counseling and defending them in environmental matters. His cases have established important precedent for the regional haze requirements in the Clean Air Act, the statute of limitations for Clean Air Act citizen lawsuits, successor liability for Superfund cleanups, and the available defenses to imminent and substantial endangerment claims under hazardous waste laws.

He has worked on a variety of complex air permit issues for utilities, oil and gas companies, chemical manufacturers, and mining companies, developing arguments to refute the possible aggregation of midstream gas processing facilities and to blunt the government's ability to challenge pre-construction emission projections. He has worked on due diligence and the negotiation of agreements for environmental matters in several hundred transactions and financings. Clients also turn to him for help in developing effective environmental management systems and implementing required cleanups.

Chuck regularly writes and lectures on environmental subjects. He is active in several bar associations, including the Environmental Law Institute and the Environment, Energy and Resources Section of the ABA.
