Carson County Extension

The Carson County Extension is an arm of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, which teaches Texans wherever they live, extending research-based knowledge to benefit their families and communities. The Extension provides Texans with science based information on agriculture and education through 4-H.

Carson County is not part of a Metropolitan Area. Its county seat is Panhandle which is the agribusiness center of the area. Land uses in Carson County are “traditionally Texan”: wheat, corn, sorghums, soybeans, and cattle. Carson County lies 28 miles east of Amarillo. Government, farming, ranching, agribusiness with oil and gas production, and Pantex (a nuclear plant) are the major job sources.
