The Camas Soil Conservation  District was organized in 1957 to help landowners  lay out irrigation systems and assist ranchers with  soil quality and for age information.  Each year, the  District donates money, technical assistance, and  office space for Southern Idaho Biological Weed  Control staff, awards graduating seniors scholarship  funds and sends youth to Natural Resource Camp and Envirothon, and sponsors educational activities.  They also provide input to the Camas County Zoning  and Planning Committee, monitor water quality in  groundwater wells, and assist in NRCS snow  surveys. The District’s top priorities are: improve  rangeland, improve wildlife habitat, increase public  outreach, improve water quality and reduce soil  erosion, and provide fiscally responsible district  operations.

Mission:

• Set high standards for the wise use of the natural resources in the District and to encourage cooperation among landowners, government agencies, private organizations and selected officials.
• Make technical, financial and educational resources available and coordinate them to meet the needs of the local land manager with conservation of soil, water and related natural resources.

2014 Accomplishments:
Worked alongside NRCS to devop a Sage Grouse Management Plan, as thousands of acres in Camas County are prime sage grouse habitat
