Proactive Conservation for Working Lands

Anoka Conservation District

MISSION
To conserve and enhance the natural resources of Anoka County.
We do this by:

  • conducting monitoring and analysis,
  • informing landowners and local government in natural resource management, and
  • leveraging technical and financial resources to promote natural resource stewardship practices

The Anoka Conservation District (ACD) is a non-regulatory county level subdivision of state government. ACD provides technical and financial assistance to private landowners to manage natural resources in a way that conserves and improves soil and water resources. When established in 1946 under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 103C, ACD largely worked with agricultural producers but has since evolved to serve the changing demographics of the county. With very little agriculture remaining in the county, ACD provides assistance to landowners on all sized properties and helps other local governments plan and implement wise resource management strategies.
