The Sloan Law Firm specializes in real property, land use, and contracts in Utah and Colorado while providing other general practice services including estate planning, probate, corporate formation, and water law.

Mr. Vuyovich has the legal and practical experience that is necessary to provide workable solutions to his clients' challenges. As a ranch owner and former operator of a commercial cattle operation in eastern Oregon, he has a hands-on understanding of the critical land and water issues that are similar to those faced by many of his clients throughout the West.

David B. Hartvigsen, a founding member of the firm, has focused his career on water law, local governmental law, and water company governance.

Jeff Gittins, a partner at Smith|Hartvigsen PLLC, practices primarily in the areas of water law and land use. He assists governmental entities, corporations, and private individuals in all aspects of water law, including water rights transactions, water rights analysis, water rights litigation, and applications with the Utah Division of Water Rights .

Peter Nichols practices: water law, water quality law, environmental law, and land and water conservation law.  Peter has particular expertise in the federal Clean Water Act and water rights, conservation easements involving water rights, and the temporary use of agricultural irrigation water rights to meet municipal needs.
