The Bee & Butterfly Habitat Fund (BBHF) identifies opportunities to establish critical pollinator habitat to help honey bee and monarch butterfly populations thrive.

Prairie Rivers of Iowa is a designated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our Mission Statement: to promote economic development through the restoration and conservation of Iowa’s cultural and natural resources.

STRIPS stands for Science-based Trials of Rowcrops Integrated with Prairie Strips. The project is comprised of a team of scientists, educators, farmers, and extension specialists working on the prairie strips agricultural conservation practice.

Historically tall grass prairie covered 70-80% of Iowa’s landscape with such species as big bluestem, butterfly milkweed, prairie cord grass, and pale purple coneflower.

The Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund supports work that advances the conservation of the monarch butterfly and other at-risk native insect pollinators.

Monarchs in the Rough is a partnership between Audubon International and Environmental Defense Fund. The program connects and supports superintendents and other golf course staff as they plan, install, and manage habitat projects for the monarch butterfly on their courses.

Research Interests Forest and native plant nursery propagation, outplanting, and establishment including biophysical and physiological limitations and adaptations within each system.
