Working Lands for Wildlife is a partnership between NRCS and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to use agency technical expertise and financial assistance to combat the decline of seven specific wildlife species whose decline can be reversed and will benefit other species with similar habitat needs.

The Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service employs 220 biologists, located in all 50 states and territories, who consult with landowners to help them  conserve and improve wildlife habitat.

Our mission is to achieve voluntary habitat conservation by providing technical and financial assistance, in collaboration with partners, for the benefit of Federal trust species.

Because more than half of all species currently listed as endangered or threatened spend at least part of their life cycle on privately owned lands, the U.

Colusa NWR was established in 1945 as a refuge and breeding ground for migratory birds and other wildlife and to reduce damage of agricultural crops caused by waterfowl.

The Central California Coast is the priority area for the Ventura Fish and Wildlife Office. Our goal is to support priority coastal conservation efforts along these 450 miles of coastline which span roughly from the Malibu lagoon in the south to Santa Cruz County north of Monterey Bay [map].

Our mission is to achieve voluntary habitat conservation by providing technical and financial assistance, in collaboration with partners, for the benefit of Federal trust species.

The Desert Landscape Conservation Cooperative encompasses portions of five states: Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, as well as a substantial portion of Northern Mexico.

The Coastal Program is a direct Federal assistance program, providing technical and/or financial assistance for approved Coastal Program projects.

The mission of The Coastal Program at Humboldt Bay is to conserve coastal ecosystems for the benefit of fish, wildlife, and coastal communities.

The Sonoran Joint Venture (SJV) is a cooperatve, regional partnership that brings people together from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border to conserve the unique habitats of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico for the benefit of birds, other wildlife, and people.

A Safe Harbor Agreement (SHA) is a voluntary agreement involving private or other non-Federal property owners whose actions contribute to the recovery of species listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

The Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) Program administers grant programs that distribute millions of dollars annually to state agencies and Tribes to manage fish, wildlife, and habitats, evaluate and enhance species of greatest conservation need, and provide recreational opportunities for fishing, hunting, shooting, and boating.

Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund (CESCF) grant programs provide funding to states and territories for species and habitat conservation actions on non-federal lands.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, working with others, is responsible for conserving, protecting, and enhancing fish and wildlife and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people through Federal programs relating to migratory birds, endangered species, interjurisdictional fish and marine mammals, and inland sport fisheries.
